Backpack Buddies - Many children in Iowa rely on resources such as the federal free or reduced-priced school meal program, during the school year. Backpack Buddies provides sacks of healthy, kid-friendly food to low-income children on weekends and school breaks, when they do not have access to the federal free and reduced price meal programs. In FYE 2010, the program served 1,260 low income children each week at 15 sites.
Help Us Stop Hunger (HUSH) - This program is a cooperative effort the Iowa DNR, Food Bank of Iowa, meat lockers and hunters to provide high-quality meat to individuals in need. In FYE 2010, the program harvested and distributed 300,000 pounds of ground venison statewide.
